Let me introduce myself

I am a mother, grandmother, retired school teacher, leader, public speaker, and author who has received a Master of Arts degree from CU Boulder in Multi-Cultural and Social Diversity Education specializing in Special Education and English as a Second Language.

Over the last thirty years, I have studied and lived the Virgina Satir Human Validation Process Model - allowing me to support people-to-people connections and self-esteem work by facilitating women's retreats, working in individual coaching environments, and traveling with several nonprofits to Central Asia. I’ve also volunteered on the boards of three humanitarian organizations, and have worked as a special education teacher for over 20 years. While I love working with all children and families, I have a particularly warm spot for helping mothers and their young children.

Through my work with children and families, my decades of training with Satir Model Lineage holders, and my understanding of empathetic education practices; I have refined my work as a healer in order to serve and support my community. My first book, Helping Children Grieve Through Sacred Actions and Images, provides potent stories which offer credible images of how resiliency can be built through activities and practicing during their hardest parts of growing up.

I enjoy practicing yoga, reading, listening to podcasts on my daily walks and listening to the birds on my farm during this quieter time of my life. My husband and I have a bee apiary where we make the most delicious creamed honey and golden beeswax candles from the generous gifts of the bees. Besides my farm, I love being on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and collecting shells, watching for dolphins and floating in the waves. I am deeply involved and supportive of my family and grandchildren; being inspired still by how children learn and express themselves.
